1.Brief introduction

   The National Engineering Research Center of Precision and Ultra-Precision Machining in BJUT has 35 faculties, including 10 professors, 6 PhD advisors, 12 associate professors, 30 PhD, and the director of this Research Center is Prof. Cai Ligang. The main research includes digital design and manufacturing, dynamics and testing evaluation of machine tool, precision cutting and failure diagnosis, precision manufacturing and measurement, vibration theory and testing, etc. Laboratory area is up to 2000 square meters, equipments value 35 million yuan. Research fund is about 45 million yuan in recent 5 years. Fund of the projects that are being carried on is more than 30 million yuan, including 7 significant special projects of the national high-grade NC machine tool, 10 projects of national natural science foundation, and 4 national support projects. More than 300 articles were published, 20 discovery patents, and 28 achievements transferring were got, in recent five years.

2.Main research:

(1)Digital Design and Manufacturing Technology

   Digital design and manufacturing technology of high-grade NC machine tool is the characteristics. Including: precision and reliability design of high-grade precision NC machine tool and functional component, engineering analysis computation, performance optimization and simulation, dynamic and static characteristic analysis and integrated testing and evaluation of high speed precision spindle, precision modeling of precision NC machine tool, error analysis and error compensation, low-weight and re-manufacturing technology of precision machine tool ,compound NC machining technics and NC programming technology and system for complex parts, modeling and optimization of technics system for complex parts, digital design and manufacturing of mould, enterprise information construction and integration of CAD/CAPP/CAM/PDM/ERP, mould CAD/CAM, and so on.

(2)Dynamics and Testing evaluation Technology of Machine tool

   Structure dynamics and testing evaluation and optimization for precision NC machine tool and functional components are the characteristics. Including: dynamic characteristic testing and analysis of precision NC machine tool and functional components, dynamic and static characteristic modeling, testing and evaluation of high speed precision locking tool handle system, force - heat coupling analysis and error compensation of precision spindle,thermal deformation modeling, testing and evaluation of machine tool, hydrodynamics analysis and optimization of precision static pressure guide rail and bearing, control of complex mechanical and electrical system, integrated performance testing and evaluation of NC machine tool and structure components, and so on.

(3)Advanced Manufacturing and Failure diagnosis Technology

   Monitoring of precision and ultra-precision manufacturing process and failure diagnosis technology of large-scale heavy-load equipment are the characteristics. Including: advanced manufacturing technics and equipment for complex products, online stability analysis and control of precision and ultra-precision manufacturing process, network monitoring technology and system for manufacture system, extraction technology and system of weak failure characteristic for large-scale heavy-load equipments, early failure diagnosis, intelligent diagnosis technology and system based on multi-information fusion integration, and so on.

(4)Precision Measurement Technique

   Precision testing of precision parts and instruments are the characteristics. Including: precision gear measurement technique and instruments, non-contour measurement technique of precision parts and instruments, large-scale precision gear measurement technique and instruments, integrated precision measurement and analysis of machine tool, shape and location precision measurement and analysis of precision parts, and so on.

3.Main instruments

   Various three-dimensional design software, CAM and PDM, TEAMCENTER, etc;

   Various integrated analysis and simulation software, such as ANSYS, ADAMS, FLUENT, etc;

   Various high performance workstation, high performance Twilight parallel server, high performance computer;

   Space geometry precision testing and analysis system;

   Heat measurement and analysis system of API spindle, temperature measurement and analysis system of Machine tool;

   LMS multi-channels and multi-functional vibration measurement system;

   IDEAS Machine tool dynamic measurement and analysis system;

   Large-scale vibration testing platform and system;

   High precision three coordinates measuring apparatus;

   High precision shape and location measurement system;

   MetalMax cutting system stability measurement, analysis, and cutting data selection system;

   BK noise integrated testing and analysis system;

   Failure extraction, analysis and diagnosis system of Machine tool;
